SECOND SATURDAYS GRIOT STORY HOUR

KICK OFF EVENT: Saturday, February 10th 7pm to 9pm

THEME: HOME

We are looking for storytellers! This event will celebrate diverse narratives, unique tales, and experiences that make us who we are. Through both curated stories and an open mic we welcome community to share your story.

If you are interested in sharing a story email hola@micentrobk.org

We’re honored to have received The Laundromat Project’s 2023 Create and Connect Fund, which enables us to put on this event series free of charge. As we review submissions, accepted stories will be grouped into overarching themes that speak to aspects of our community.

What is a Griot?

A GRIOT is a verbal artist who tells stories, sings songs of praise, and recites poems, educating their audiences with historical accounts and ancestral histories.
They are record keepers of their people.

Whether you’re a seasoned public speaker or the family story teller, if you are a neighbor with a story we want to hear from you!
